Who Are We?

Maybe you’re curious about Copiapoa? Perhaps you’re wondering about Welwitschi? You have come to the right place! Founded in 1928, The Cactus and Succulent Society of America (CSSA) is the oldest cactus society in the Southwest and is a large and active group of cacti and succulent plant enthusiasts.

Throughout the history of CSSA, many of the most prominent researchers, authors, and collectors of the succulent world have been leaders and members of our society. We serve the greater community by offering free educational activities, habitat restoration and preservation, and a yearly plant sale.

Haseltonia Yearbooks

The technical yearbook of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America, Haseltonia, is published in full color and features peer-reviewed articles about all aspects of cacti, succulents and their environs. Some recent topics include current research and conservation reports, historical and biographical notes, propagation and pest control methods, and pollinator studies.

I don't see the desert as barren at all; I see it as full and ripe. It doesn't need to be flattered with rain. It certainly needs rain, but it does with what it has, and creates amazing beauty.
